The Local Behind The List

Why I started
Scotland Golf Insider.

Josh — Founder of Scotland Golf Insider

I didn’t want to create just another golf page. I wanted to build a community where Scottish golfers feel part of something.

For those who don’t know me, I’m Josh. I’m from Fife, play off 3 at Aberdour Golf Club and have always had a passion for golf.

One thing I’ve always loved about the game is the conversations. Everyone has their favourite courses, hidden gems and places they think are overrated. That’s where the idea for Scotland Golf Insider came from.

There are plenty of rankings and websites telling us which courses are Scotland’s best, but I wanted to hear more from the golfers who actually play them. The people who know their local courses inside out, have explored courses across Scotland and have their own experiences to share.

But this is about more than rankings. I want to build a community where golfers can share opinions, discover new courses, have good discussions and connect through a shared love of the game.

Becoming a dad for the first time this year has also made me think more about how I spend my time and what I want to build. Creating something that brings people together feels like a worthwhile thing to do.

I certainly don’t know every course in Scotland, and that’s the point. I want Scotland Golf Insider to be shaped by the people who are part of it, not just my opinions.

Ultimately, I’d love to create a community where Scottish golfers feel their voices matter, while helping golfers from around the world discover what makes golf in Scotland so special. It’s early days, but I’d love you to be part of it.

“The best judges aren’t tourists who played once in August. They’re the golfers who tee it up in November wind and rain.”

Every ranking here is compiled directly from local votes, honest discussions inside The 19th Hole community, and real scorecard debates.
